Members can earn awards in the following categories:

  1. USEF/USDF Recognized Dressage Shows
  2. USEF Recognized Western Dressage Shows
  3. DVCTA Sanctioned Schooling Shows
  4. USEF/USEA Recognized Horse Trials
  5. Schooling Horse Trials
  6. Schooling Combined Tests

General Rules:

  1. A Champion and Reserve Champion will be awarded in each section of each category, as well as ribbons for first through sixth place, which may be increased for large divisions.
  2. Each rider and/or owner must complete 8 volunteer hours at a DVCTA sanctioned show/clinic/event during the awards year, December 1, 2022 and November 30, 2023. This is per owner/rider combination. This may include family members of the owner and/or rider.
    If hours are not worked, they must be paid for ($20 per hour)
    (EXAMPLE: if you can only acquire 2 volunteer hours, then you must submit $120 ($20 x 6 unacquired volunteer hours) by November 30, 2023 to be eligible for awards).
  3. Each rider will be assigned to a group (Junior, Adult Amateur, Master Amateur, Open) as per
    USEF/USDF/USEA rules.
        a. Group ages are as follows:
              1. Junior up to age 18 must be 17 on 12/1 of award year
              2. Adult Amateur: 19 to 39
              3. Master Amateur:
                   i. 40 and up for USEA
                   ii. 50 and up for USDF (aka Vintage)
              4. Open
  4. There is no limit to the number of horses for which a rider can submit scores, and horses may be ridden by multiple riders.
  5. Each horse and rider combination may earn year end awards in two consecutive levels.
  6. Scores Required
         a. For dressage awards – each horse and rider combination submits their three best scores earned during the qualifying period. Scores must be from 3 separate shows and at least 2 separate judges.
    Please submit ONLY three scores- When submitting scores, please send screen shots or picture proof (ie scanning) of scores with your year end submission form.
         b. For combined test and eventing awards – each horse and rider combination submits a maximum of 6 scores. The maximum is set based on the new 2021 USEA leaderboard approach. When submitting scores, please send screen shots or picture proof (ie scanning) of scores with your year end submission form.
  7. Each dressage horse and rider combination must submit at least one score from the highest test for the level (EXCEPTION: Intro, FEI Dressage, Freestyle, and HT).
    All other divisions: Training and First – Fourth Level, inclusive, must submit at least 1 score from Test 3 for that level: e.g. Test T-3,1-3, 2-3, 3-3, or 4-3.
  8. Each horse and rider combination may submit any scores earned between December 1, 2022 and November 30, 2023, as long as the rider is a current DVCTA member on or before November 30, 2023, which is the end of the membership year.
  9. Riders are responsible for submitting scores via the 2023 YEA Submission Form- This must be submitted by December 1st at midnight EST.
        a. Late submissions will be accepted until 12/15/23 for a fee of $50 dollars per submission. Scores will NOT be accepted after 12/15/23.
        b. Please submit forms to awards@DVCTA.org.

 


Category Specific Rules

Rules that apply only to the DVCTA Sanctioned dressage schooling show category:

  1. Dressage awards will be offered at the following divisions/levels: Leadline, Introductory, Training, First, Second, Third, Fourth, Musical Freestyle, FEI, Quadrille, and Western Dressage Introductory through Level 5.
  2. Each horse and rider combination may earn scores from any DVCTA sanctioned schooling show.
  3. Each horse and rider combination must submit verification of scores using the submission form to awards@dvcta.org.
  4. Other divisions may be added after current YEA season with approval from the DVCTA Awards Committee, please contact awards@dvcta.org with any questions.

Rules that apply only to the USEF/USDF recognized dressage shows and USEF recognized western dressage shows:

  1. Awards will be offered at the following divisions/levels: Introductory, Training, First, Second, Third, Fourth, Musical Freestyle, FEI, and Western Dressage Introductory through Level 5.
  2. Each horse and rider combination must submit verification of scores.

Rules that apply to the Unrecognized/Starter Horse Trials and Combined Tests:

  1. Awards will be given for the following divisions/levels: Elementary, Introductory, Beginner Novice, Novice, Training, and Modified.
  2. Each horse and rider combination may submit results from St.Augustine Pony Club Horse Trials, Fair Hill Starter Trials, Plantation Field Starter Trials, and any other unrecognized event that posts results online. Combined tests from the DVCTA sanctioned shows are also permitted. Other divisions and venues may be added with approval from the DVCTA Awards Committee; contact the Awards Chair (awards@dvcta.org) with any questions, and please provide the event secretary contact information. Submit a legible screen shot of the competition results.
  3. Standings determined by points system below.

Rules that apply to the USEA/USEF Recognized Horse Trials:

  1. Awards will be given for the following divisions/levels: Elementary, Introductory, Beginner Novice,
    Novice, Training, Modified, Preliminary, Intermediate and Advanced.
  2. Each horse and rider combination may submit results from any USEA/USEF recognized event.
  3. Standings determined by points system below.

Points System for CT and HT Standings – YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PLACE to submit the score!

Points are revised based on 2021 USEA changes

All phases must be completed for points to be earned:
e.g. points will not be earned for a horse trial where either SJ or XC is not completed due to
Withdrawal (W), or Elimination (E), Technical Elimination (TE), or Rider Fall (RF).

Dressage Rider Medals

These awards are not limited to a single calendar year.

BRONZE MEDAL: Training Level
– 6 scores at 60% or above – 3 scores from test T3; other 3 from any training level test – 4 different judges – 4 different shows
8 hours of volunteer time to be completed the same year this medal is applied for
SILVER MEDAL: First and Second Levels
– 6 scores at 60% or above – 1 score from test 1-3 and 1 score from test 2-3, or two from test 2-3 –3 scores from first level, 3 from second level – 4 different judges – 4 different shows
8 hours of volunteer time to be completed the same year this medal is applied for
GOLD MEDAL: Third and Fourth Levels– 6 scores at 58% or above – 1 from test 3-3, 1 from test 4-3, or two from test 4-3 – 4 different
judges – 4 different shows
8 hours of volunteer time

Western Dressage Rider Medals

These awards are not limited to a single calendar year.

BRONZE MEDAL: Basic Level
– 6 scores at 60% or above – 3 scores from Basic 4; other 3 from any Basic level test – 4 different judges – 4 different shows

SILVER MEDAL: Level 1 and Level 2
– 6 scores at 60% or above – 1 score from test 1-4 and 1 score from test 2-4, or two from test 2-4 –3 scores from level 1, 3 from level 2 – 4 different judges – 4 different shows

Eventing Rider Medals

These awards are not limited to a single calendar year.

MEDAL LEVELS: Elementary, Introductory, Beginner Novice, Novice, Training

At the level you are applying for:
-3 scores from at least 2 different venues
-Final scores must be 40.0 or fewer penalties
-Qualifying scores must have zero XC jumping penalties
-1 of the 3 scores at BN, N, or T may be from a USEA recognized competition
-Scores from 2019 and later are eligible
-Scores can be acquired on multiple horses
-Awards are limited to 1 per DVCTA member per division level
-8 hours of volunteer time to be completed the same year this medal is applied for
